I started taking electronics apart at seven. I never really put the screwdriver down. At fifteen I started charging for it.
The bread and butter is the obvious stuff, cracked screens, swollen batteries, charge ports that have decided they’ve had enough. The interesting work is logic-board level repair: microsoldering, reflowing, replacing individual ICs, chasing intermittent shorts with a thermal camera.
It’s a hustle, but it’s also the cleanest feedback loop I’ve found. Either the phone turns back on or it doesn’t.
